Our Origins

Our Logo

The name, Triple 1st Response and logo represent the three disciplines of military, law enforcement and fire-EMS services our founder devoted two-thirds of his life to. Cohortes Vigilum, (Latin: CŌ-horts Vig-ĕ-LŬM) (https://www.worldhistory.org/Vigiles/) is one in being, three in personality. The three personalities depicted are Belgian Malinois (Mal-in-Wa) representing military service, is on the viewer’s left. Closer examination reveals the shaded portion inside the ear is a pentagon. “Wrinkles” above and below one eye resemble the stripes of an Army Sergeant First Class (E-7) or a Master Sergeant (E-8) if the bottom eye lid is included.

The middle dog, long-associated mascot of the fire service, is a Dalmatian. Dalmatians are known for their white body with randomly placed and shaped black spots. Our Dalmatian has not so randomly placed and shaped spots around the eye which resemble a Maltese Cross. The Maltese Cross has been used as a firefighters badge for many decades.

The final personality, law enforcement, is demonstrated through the Rottweiler. The Rottweiler’s ear is in the shape of a US Army Criminal Investigation Division, a.k.a. CID, Special Agent’s gold badge. The gold badge has long been the coveted badge carried by Detectives, Inspectors, and Investigators. Further, the initials, CID are a recognized organization within many American police departments.

Cohortes Vigilum (CV) appears to be on high alert having detected a nearby perceived threat. CV displays a menacing grimace to give fair warning to any who mean harm. CV, a defender, is in a protective posture. However, is prepared and capable to quickly transition to an offensive posture if attack is eminent.
